Buffy Wilson

 
 

Buffy Wilson, Vice President of Accounting, joined the company in 2023. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional. Later in her career, she earned an MBA with a certification in Finance and Business Analytics.

Upon joining the company, she brings 28 years of accounting and finance experience with increasing responsibility and leadership. She has a functional, hands-on approach to transforming and leading teams, assisting with developing company strategy and consulting executive management, building relationships with internal and external partners, implementing and optimizing technology systems, implementing and improving business processes to maximize productivity and profits, strengthening internal controls, redesigning reporting and analysis focusing on quality and performance goals.

At the start of her career, she spent 8 years in public accounting, eventually becoming a junior partner in the firm. Her client base included real estate, construction, health care, professional services, oil and gas, timber and logging, retail and transportation.

In 2003, she moved into the private sector focusing on vertically integrated construction and real estate. Initially, she spent 8 years as Director of Accounting for a Louisiana based general heavy highway and bridge contractor with integrated asphalt and concrete plant operations. During her tenure, the company experienced record growth tripling revenues by 2008.

At the end of 2011, she moved to North Carolina to work with a private equity group as a Controller and Interim CFO to assist in the transformation and growth of an acquired EPC heavy civil industrial contractor with integrated fabrication shops and plant maintenance working across the southeast states. She worked with executive and board leadership on the eventual sale of this company to Argan, Inc. (NYSE: AGX) which occurred at the end of 2015.

In 2016, she moved to Nashville, TN initially working with contractors in an interim leadership capacity. In 2017, she began working for a Nashville based real estate developer with integrated design, preconstruction, and construction operations of commercial, mixed-use and multi-family developments. Here she led the creation and development of project cost accounting and analyst teams focusing on improving project management and accounting system utilization, project controls, executive reporting and forecasting for developments across all geographic locations.

Her most recent role before coming to the company was CFO with a real estate developer with integrated construction and plant operations of modular build to rent communities licensed in select states in the southeast.
